I am going a little deeper today with some thoughts on Ecclesiastes chapter 3. I was very inspired to write this little devotional and create this page in my Bible after listening to some worship music and reading this chapter. Click over and read it here. I'll wait :)
Friends, God is OUTSIDE of our feelings. What a relief! There is a time for all purposes but the old cliche is true - 'this, too, shall pass'. Our God is a "Big Picture" God.
That leads me to another cliche which I personally do not feel is true at all. I think this is going to be an unpopular thing for me to say -- BUT -- I do not believe that everything happens for a reason. I know, I know...but hear me out... The Bible says that all things work together for good for those that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28) ...Since people have been given free will I cannot believe that everything happens for a reason, not a "spiritual" or "big picture" reason or for any reason at all. Sometimes things happen because people are able to exercise free will. That is - a will outside of God. I do, however, KNOW, without a doubt, that I have an amazing God that can use absolutely anything, any situation, any person, ANYTHING at all to further His Kingdom.
One of my favorite quotes is by Robert Frost and it says, "In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life, 'it goes on'." Our seasons pass one by one. We mourn, we dance, we seek, we love - life goes on. But our God never changes.
I was listening to worship music yesterday. My favorite Christian artist is Natalie Grant. Teamed up with her talented, producer husband, Bernie Herms some of the most amazing cords and lyrics in Christian music resound so deeply in me. Her album, Hurricane, has and amazing song titled "We Win in the End" The lyrics inspired this page in my Bible.
*God never changes
*God can work anything for His purpose
*God can use my hot mess
*God sees the Big Picture
*God is outside of what I feel
Below I am linking to all of the items I used to make this page and also including the video to the song "We Win in the End" By Natalie Grant.
